As parents, we always want the best for our children. We will go to any extent to make sure our little ones are safe and sound- free from stress and problems of any kind. But, for how long can we hold them in our hands? At some point or the other, we will have to let them free – let them experience this world on their own. To make that, a less scary experience for us, there is one thing we can do – teach moral values for kids and get them prepared for what is coming!

On that note, I came across this wonderful book – Chanakya in daily life. It is about one of the greatest thinkers India has produced. Chanakya was a master of all subjects. This was written by Radhakrishnan Pillai.

He says, this book is for everyone, whether you are a student or a married person with responsibilities or a retired person, Chanakya has a message for you. With that note, here are some amazing pointers, that you can incorporate into your child’s daily routine.

1. Let’s start with the early morning routine:

  • Early to bed, early to rise!
  • Setting internal alarms!

He says that just like waking up on time, sleeping well too is extremely important. To wake up on time – we have the habit of setting alarms. If we can get up with a soothing sound of the alarm, we will be cheerful. On the other hand, a strong loud sound will definitely wake us up, but in a disturbed manner right?

On the other hand, teach them how to avoid the alarm altogether. By training their minds to set an internal alarm every night!

2. Next is Thinking time!

  • Help them to create a checklist for the day.
  • Following up on the Checklist, at the end of the day!

Allow some time for your children to think and ponder over their various thoughts and interests. Teach them to plan their actions before they start any activity. This way, they will learn to prioritize things too. Make them write down a checklist of this to do, every day. More importantly, teach them to review that checklist at the end of the day!

3. Health is Wealth

  • Simple exercises in the morning!
  • Teach them to eat healthily!

To maintain good health, teach your children to exercise on a daily basis. Start small, a few hand, and leg exercises. Teach them to eat healthily – add greens and veggies, and don’t forget to make it interesting.

4. Incorporate moral values for kids as Daily Rituals

  • Create a set of rituals that will suit your child.
  • It may include – going for a jog or reading a book!

Rituals don’t just mean – religious practices. Small things in our daily routine – like brushing our teeth itself is a ritual. So, create a list of things you want your child to do every day. It may be going for a jog or reading a book. By converting these good habits into a ritual, your kids will master these habits and will enjoy performing these “Rituals” every single day!

5. Swadharma

  • Every child is unique!
  • Allow them to follow their passion by figuring out their hidden talents!

Swadharma means – Something that comes naturally to oneself. Everyone is unique in this world. Especially our kids. Each and every one of them has unique talents. Find your child’s talent and nurture it! You will be amazed to see your child shine in that field!

This is just a small part of the whole book. And a lot more is yet to come. So do keep following this page for more interesting articles, moral values for kids, and tips for fun activities! Happy Parenting 🙂
